Aquanatal Classes
Aquanatal classes are gentle, water-based exercise sessions designed specifically for pregnant women (and sometimes for the postnatal period too).
What They Involve
- Warm-up and light cardio – slow, low-impact movements to get the body moving without stress on joints.
- Strength and toning exercises – often with water noodles or floats to help build core, back, and leg strength.
- Pelvic floor and posture work – supporting the muscles most affected by pregnancy and preparing for birth.
- Breathing and relaxation techniques – to help with labour preparation and mental wellbeing.
- Cool-down and stretching – ending with calming movements in the water.

Why They’re Beneficial
- Buoyancy reduces strain – the water supports much of your body weight, easing pressure on joints and the spine.
- Improved circulation – the hydrostatic pressure of the water can help reduce swelling in feet and ankles.
- Gentle resistance – water provides natural resistance, helping maintain muscle tone safely.
- Pain relief – warmth and buoyancy can soothe back pain, pelvic discomfort, and muscle tension.
- Social connection – a relaxed, friendly environment to meet other expectant mums.
- Labour preparation – exercises and breathing can boost stamina, flexibility, and aid relaxation for birth.
How it works
Classes are 45 minutes long , this is usually 30 minutes of exercise followed by 10 minutes of hypnobirthing based breathing and visualisation techniques to utilise during labour and birth and will also help you have a good nights sleep, the classes finish with a 5 minute ‘top tip’ discussion.
Our classes are a mix of gestations , with the earliest recommended start being at 12 weeks right through until your baby is born if you are feeling fit and well.
All classes are ‘pay as you go’ and run in alignment with the school term.
Booking is essential to avoid disappointment.
